     The junk jumbilee jalopy. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try to make Jimmy’s ship a type of rocket, or something less logical. In keeping with a whimsical style, I went for something I pictured “The Little Rascals” would make, and began to design his contraption.
     All found junk, I wanted the reader to look at the jalopy’s design and go “Oh that’s a fruit crate, and that’s a flashlight, there’s wagon-wheel...” and so on, so there would be no mistaking how Jimmy made it. There is even a little painted British soldier as the hood ornament!
     I think more childhood influence creeped in on this one too, as the jalopy does bear a resemblance to “Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang”.
